Testimonials about The Speech Space Team

“Megan isn’t just a speech pathologist, she works above and beyond with her families and has a long standing relationship with them. She first worked with my son on articulation and later when my daughter was diagnosed with severe apraxia, she made a point of making space in her schedule to work with us so she could provide therapy to her. Megan specializes in children with apraxia and special needs. She spent time beyond the “billed hours” to make sure that my daughter had the support that she needed. My daughter’s latest IEP revealed that she had made significant progress. She went from not speaking at two to now successfully navigating an immersion program in Mandarin at her elementary school. My daughter’s success links directly to Megan’s work.”
— Brigid, mother of one child with apraxia of speech and one child with language delays.

”Both our children saw Megan for different speech disorders and loved her. Megan understood the pathology that they each had, crafted a plan that was meant to address their individual issues, and was able to guide my children and me through the whole process. The process had a beginning, and a clear end. Both kids are now age-appropriate for their speech, and their speech issues are a distant memory. Megan also understands that she is dealing with children, and at no point did she forget that; to this day, both children love her. I could not be happier with the results.”

“We have been to a couple of places (programs and private) looking for speech support for our son. It hasn’t been until now that we’ve received the sense of comfort and confidence in his speech path and progress. We commute for over an hour for his speech appointment, and it’s a commute we wouldn’t hesitate to make. We are very happy to have connected with The Speech Space and with Rachel, who has been wonderful!”
–Reger, father of a child with speech and language delays

“We have been working with Rachel for nearly six months and our child’s articulation has improved substantially. We meet online for 30 minutes twice per week. Our child was 3.5 years old when he started, and it was our first experience with speech therapy, let alone remote speech therapy. Our child looks forward to sessions with Rachel and is always excited to see her. She works with our child to figure out what is motivating and changes things up on the spot as needed to keep engagement. We get summary reports after each session detailing our child’s progress and how we can continue working in between sessions. We highly recommend Rachel – she is great!” –W, father of a child with articulation delays

“We began using the speech space services last year My then three Year old was nonverbal. She said no and maybe another word. Just a bit of background for parents that are looking for a speech therapist and was in our situation; she is not autistic, has no other delays at all. A perfectly regular playful smart 3 year old who just did not speak at all- she was great at non verbal communication-&understood mostly what was said to her. During her first year of preschool she started therapy with Rachel who has been God Sent to our family. After each session we receive a paper of what they’ve worked on and how we can practice at home. Exactly a year later our 4 year old is speaking as I would expect her to! She is basically where she needs to be. Her communication is great! Completely different child. We her parents, as well as strangers can easily understand her. She can count to 20- knows her colors- animals and other information you would expect a four year old to be able to communicate. She is doing spectacular. Rachel and her have accomplished so much. If you are at all a bit hesitant about the speech space please move forward. I promise you will not be disappointed. I have tears in my eyes as I write this now, there is not a word for how grateful I am to Rachel and their services at The Speech Space.” –Gabby, mother of a child with speech and language delays

“Monica was as wonderful with our son as she was with his parents. She had an amazing way of making our son feel like he’s just playing, when really she is teaching him important skills. After each session, she’d explain his progress, and best of all, give us very specific tasks we could do to help him progress. To be sure my son was getting the support he needed at daycare, Monica visited his class. My son spent about 8 months in weekly therapy. He’s graduated from therapy and tested above his age, even, in some of the skills where he had the biggest deficits. Even though we are no longer clients, Monica gave us more tools to help his speech improve as he gets older. Monica has the warmest personality and is so fun. But what I loved most about her is how she helped my husband and I feel more confident in the things we could do to encourage our son. It can be a scary feeling for a parent to think there is anything “wrong” with her/his child’s development. Monica taught us specific skills we could use to help our son and feel less powerless. The only part that makes me sad about my son’s speech therapy ending is that we won’t get to see Monica.”
–Laura, mother of child with a speech, receptive and expressive language delay.

“Ms. Monica,” as we refer to her, has been a presence in our learning environment for several years, supporting individual children and their families, offering convenience by visiting the children at their learning space, during their school day and the parent’s work day.

Monica’s ability to connect with the children became evident early on. Not only do the children she works with directly want to go to their sessions with her, but classmates ask when they can have a turn! Monica offers fun and purposeful learning experiences with each child during their sessions.

Monica has also become a helpful resource, welcoming my general, or development-specific, questions and is always willing to spend an extra moment to listen, explain, and offer ideas. As for the individual children who Monica works with, as needed, Monica offers ideas and simple tools for us to incorporate during the school day. Mostly, she provides the learning tools in her individual sessions, and gives “homework” so the children and families can work towards reaching each child’s specific goal(s).

It has been, and continues to be, a pleasure to work with Ms. Monica!”

”Monica is a fantastic speech therapist, and I highly recommend her. She really worked to engage my son so that he could learn and have fun. He was always happy to see her and thought of it as play time. She also taught me a lot about how kids form and understand sounds, so that I could help him throughout the week, not just at our sessions. We were happy to graduate out of speech therapy, but sad that we wouldn’t see Monica anymore. “
–Melissa, mother of child with expressive language delays

“We have had such a wonderful experience at The Speech Space with Anna! My 2 1/2 year old has severe articulation delays and after 6 months we have seen tremendous growth. We are able to understand so much more of what he is saying, which has eased frustrations for him and for us! Anna’s patience and kindness in providing play based therapy is much appreciated.” –Audrey, mother of a child with articulation delays

“We had a fantastic experience with both Monica and Anna at the Speech Space. They were kind, diligent, and honest with us throughout the process. They empowered us to know how to work with our son and we saw amazing progress during our time working with them. Our son adored them both, and we would recommend them highly!” –Taryn, mother of a child with expressive language delay
